Be The Change You Want To See
So often in the business of fitness we recommend change to our clients, deliver change to our members or manage change with our staff/teams but seldom is it well received.
Let’s talk about how we can best manage change and make it less threatening and more positive, exciting and invigorating.
- There needs to be vision and there needs to be passion and arguably there needs to be motivation to change.
- Most importantly there needs to be someone to lead the change.
- Collaboration is a really effective way to get buy-in from staff and engagement with members/clients. If we can involve people in the decision making process, clearly communicate to them the surrounding circumstances and show them our vision for the future, we can lead them along that path and if we do it right, they will follow.
Change management is not an overnight process. Change will happen incrementally and the process will need to be monitored and managed.
My best tip in managing change successfully its to be the change you want to see – walk the walk and talk the talk and eventually people will follow your lead.
