Getting the Colour Right
Recently, I looked at a printed marketing piece and thought, ‘What the …’ The colours were so not what I wanted. So I chatted with my printer and here are some basic tips for you to remember (so you don’t make the same mistake as me):
- CMYK is when printers use cyan, magenta, yellow and black toner.
- RGB is red, blue and green that you see on the computer screen.
- RGB files will not print the same when using CMYK.
- To be most accurate with your colours, use programs that can reproduce CMYK like InDesign and PhotoShop.
