#Filex2017 Insights From Angus Campbell A Kiwi Owner
This was my first Filex for a couple of years as I have been out of the fitness industry for some time. However during my previous 20 years in the industry I attended Filex on a regular basis.
This year was just as beneficial as it is every other year. The event is always an inspiration.
I also attended IHRSA this year, which was also great however Filex gives you a great perspective of what is happening in the local market.
The fitness industry is an amazing industry where competitors come together, network and share ideas to benefit everyone, the industry and our customers.
I will be back next year.
3 take away’s
We are a community
Our clubs have always been a community however with the changes in the industry including the introduction of low service models combined with the connected world we now live in, creating a community where our members can interact and have fun is now even more important. Consider ways to encourage the community feel in your club.
Be aware of the language we use
As industry professionals, the words weight loss, get fit increase strength etc are terms we are familiar with however we need to be aware of the ‘feeling’ factor. Our members primarily join our clubs and keep coming back because of the way it makes them feel. Our language in all our communication needs to express this.
Technology is here to stay but don’t let it run your business
Technology is transforming our industry as it has with many others. There are a wide range of uses for technology in all aspects of your business. Tech should be used where you think it adds value to your business however we are a customer facing business so don’t lose sight of that.
