One of the most successful guerrilla marketing campaigns we ever ran in our club was this Mothers Day promotion!

Ask local businesses who would be selling Mothers Day gifts to add your Gift Voucher to every purchase. These could be:

    Offer

Consider having three offers or in this case ‘gifts’. One gift should be for joining, one for trialing your club and one for a member, if they should receive it.

Print on a heavier stock for greater perceived value – maybe 250gsm+

We popped the voucher in a coloured envelope to increase the perceived value.

    Options for Customising

  • Robert Cialdini Tips On Influencing

    Robert Cialdini Tips On Influencing

    Robert Cialdini

Whether a personal trainer looking to influence clients to train more often, a sales person hoping to influence a prospect to become a member or a manager influencing their team to follow their direction, the ability to persuade people is critical.

In his book ‘Influence’ Robert Cialdini identified six principles:

    • Liking – if people like you, they are more likely to say yes to you. People will like you when they sense you like them or if you have something in common.
    • Reciprocity – people tend to return favours. If you help people, they’ll help you.
    • Social proof – people will do things they see other people doing, especially if those people are similar to them.
    • Commitment & consistency – people want to be consistent. If they make a public, voluntary commitment they’ll try to fulfill that commitment.
    • Authority – people defer to experts or those in positions of authority.
    • Scarcity – people value things more if they perceive them to be scarce.

Your goal should be to include these in your marketing and advertising. When you do, you will have greater success. If you need help designing your marketing pieces, contact Justin for help: email him now.

Zumba + YMCA + Groceries = One Healthy Stop

    One Healthy Stop

Albany-based Hannaford Supermarket has a small gym equipped with treadmills, stationary bicycles, other cardio machines, a Zumba room, and lockers.

Besides the perk of getting in a workout and grocery shopping done all in one trip, it’s also completely free.

The supermarket was remodeled last year, and extra space was left. Shortly after, in October, the “Healthy Living Center” opened. The 5,600-square-foot health facility is the only one in the 184-store chain with a gym.

  • Five Tips For Staff Appraisals

    Five Tips For Staff Appraisals

    Staff Appraisals

Regardless of the age of your staff (some people believe that Gen Y don’t want to know) they want to know if they are doing a great job. If you believe your greatest asset in your business is your people, then you will conduct a fair and impartial appraisal of each of your Team every year – maybe even twice a year.

These tips will help make it a successful experience for everyone:

    1. Don’t surprise your team by ‘springing’ the appraisal on them. Have them scheduled into your annual calendar.
    2. Have agreed key performance indicators (KPIs)which mean there is an objective appraisal of performance.
    3. Have your team self-evaluate their performance based on their job description and give them an opportunity to raise any issues about performing their role.
    4. At the conclusion of the appraisal put a plan in place for personal development and lock in a time in 6 months to monitor progress on that development plan.
    5. Do not link ongoing employment, termination, promotion of salary changes based on the result of the appraisal.

    “The rumour is true”

  • Obstacle Races Are A Trend You Can Ride!

Obstacle Races Are A Trend You Can Ride!

    Obstacle Races

Just a few years ago, an obstacle race was a 3 or 5km run, a few hurdles, a fence to get over and if you were lucky a puddle to leap over. They were boring and no-one did them!

Now, they are the coolest ‘fun run’ event that people of all ages are participating in.

Obstacle races gives a new definition to the ‘weekend warrior.’

In fact, in 2013 it is estimated almost 1.3 million Americans competed in an obstacle race! Compare this to just 200,000 in 2010.

This growing trend provides exciting opportunities for gyms and personal trainers . You can help prepare people to not just survive the race but compete. This is an untapped market and ripe for you to gain leverage from this $US300m business.

What ideas do you have for taking advantage of this growing trend?

  • Your Actions Impact Your Public Perception, Sales & Business

Your Actions Impact Your Public Perception, Sales & Business

    Your Actions

The character of your business will directly impact the success and #growth of your business. Here are some suggestions to help build ‘character’ to your business:

    • Avoid white lies, half truths and exaggeration – trust is critical in your community, so do nothing for the community to ever question you.
    • Honour your commitments – if you say you’ll do something, do it! By keeping your promises you will demonstrate integrity and build further trust.
    • Go the extra mile – by going above and beyond you will stand apart from everyone else. Common practice in business is to do the bare minimum, so this is an easy way to be better than your competitors.

Finally, remember the world is small. So grudges or unfinished business will impact your business. Resolve your conflicts as they could open the door to future opportunities.

  • Social Media Is NOT About Sales – part III

Social Media Is NOT About Sales – part III

    Social Media

The last in our series to refine your social media this month is a reminder to focus on the appropriate platform for your market.

For example, Instagram currently is very popular with under 35’s but if your membership base is over 35, why waste your time on this platform?

Then make sure you speak the ‘language’ of the platform. If you are feeding Facebook posts to your Twitter profile, then remember Twitter is ONLY 140 characters. Your shortened Twitter post will look silly and unprofessional.

YES! You are correct in your thinking!

It will take more time! But you will present a more professional image to your current and future clients

Can I suggest if you have not read Jab Jab Jab Right Hook by Garry Vaynerchuck get it and read it now as it will explain how to speak on the different platforms. Buy it here under 2014 Readings!
