  • Why REX Roundtables Is Unique in The Fitness Industry

Why REX Roundtables Is Unique in The Fitness Industry

    2020 Year for REX Roundtables

    By Maria Novey

     2020 started out good

REX outings scheduled just as they should.

Brent and RT 2 were New Orleans bound

Miami’s South Beach is where Eddie’s groups could be found.

Planning had begun for the next round

When reports of problems began to sound.

A virus said to be very bad

Was about to affect all, turning us from glad to sad.

Life changed as we knew it

Stay home orders tested our grit

Clubs and businesses told to close

Bringing on such sadness and woes.

So many questions on what actions to take

The livelihood of our gyms truly at stake.

Eddie and Brent – REX’s Dynamic Duo to the rescue

They helped guide members as they always do.

Weekly calls set for Young Guns, Rowdy and RT2

Developing strategies as REX members forge through.

Zoom calls set for OMS, MCRT for view

And we cannot forget Zoom for RT3 and the CREW.

Mark and JT followed the lead with Zoom calls as well

Helping members with Q&A which were unparallel.

More questions than answers for everyone

One thing for sure, we all wished crazy times were done.

As our lives changed REX members forged on

Normal routines, workouts and operations were gone.

Weeks turned into months as daily rules changed

Depending on where you lived, things got even more strange.

As states began to open, good news began to spread

Gyms were back and patrons were happy – that truly can be said.

Just to be safe, REX members decided no meetings in Fall

States and travel made planning a difficult hall.

So through the fall we continued with Zoom

Wishing away the doom and gloom.

    Everyone looking forward to 2021

And happy that 2020 will truly be done!

  • Media Release: Les Mills Asia Pacific Delivers First Ever Live-Streamed Quarterly eWorkshops

Media Release: Les Mills Asia Pacific Delivers First Ever Live-Streamed Quarterly eWorkshops

The weekend of 4th to 6th September proved an historic moment for Les Mills Asia Pacific, when more than 2,000+ Instructors came together online to participate in the brand’s first ever online Quarterly Workshops.

“Our Quarterly Workshops are a cornerstone of our business model,” explained Ryan Hogan Chief Executive Officer of Les Mills Asia Pacific “as it’s where our Instructors experience and learn the new choreography and music Releases that will be delivered to members in the Clubs, for the three months that follow.”

“For the first time in the 50+ years that Les Mills has been offering turnkey group fitness solutions to Clubs, these Workshops were delivered online via live-stream, with Instructors attending remotely from all over the Asia Pacific region,” Ryan added.

The business has been constantly innovating since COVID first closed the fitness industry in March, and with both local and international markets such as Victoria still experiencing varying levels of operational uncertainty, the brand is committed to remaining nimble.

“Adversity can have silver linings,” said Ryan. “For example, we’d usually be unable to deliver a Quarterly Workshop in some of the countries within our region – Bali, for example. But these eWorkshops were attended by XX Bali-based Instructors! So it’s fair to say that the pandemic has certainly accelerated our embrace of live-streaming and virtual options, in terms of how we can best service our Instructors and Club Partners during this time.”

The Q3 Quarterly eWorkshops served as an entrée for Les Mills Asia Pacific’s Club Partners and Instructors who are now gearing up for what is touted as the world’s largest fitness event – World United. This new campaign is designed to help Les Mills’ Club Partners all over the globe grow their membership and celebrate the return of fitness, as well as its importance for optimal physical and mental health.

According to a recent report – which surveyed 2,000 club members from across the US – post-COVID membership levels are expected to range from 65% to 84%, with a range of 75% to 80% most likely in the early months after reopening. This can be largely attributed to the value of the social elements that group fitness and staff interactions within Clubs delivers to members.

“Research into the ‘group effect’ tells us that in addition to getting better results, workouts are also more motivating and enjoyable when we exercise with others,” added Ryan. “And with so many of us really starting to feel the effects of having been isolated from friends, family, and familiar faces, this global festival of fitness called ‘WORLD UNITED’ is a way that we can really kick-start the global fitness sector’s COVID-19 recovery.”

The World United campaign is the third phase of Les Mills’ recovery support package for its Club Partners, to help turbocharge their relaunch and drive member re-engagement by reactivating paused members and attracting new ones. The campaign will peak from Saturday 19th September 2020 onwards, with a synchronised global launch of live and online fitness events involving tens of thousands of fitness facilities and Instructors worldwide. The milestone activation will celebrate fitness – our uniting force amid COVID-19 – through the exclusive release of UNITED-themed workouts which were filmed during lockdown, by 374 of the world’s top Les Mills Instructors from across 48 countries.

Les Mills’ Club Partners and Instructors are invited to participate in the global celebrations by hosting their own special launch activations or community Open Day (or weekend) – either live in-club or online via Les Mills’ live-streaming service. These activations play a strong role in motivating members to attend more often, and will dial up the fun factor and offer a strong PR hook to generate added buzz and publicity around each Club.

To find out more about World United including how to get involved, Les Mills’ Club Partners and Instructors can visit www.lesmills.com.au/united.

  • Media Release: Les Mills Instructors Embark on World-Firsts at Upcoming Q3 Quarterly eWorkshops

Media Release: Les Mills Instructors Embark on World-Firsts at Upcoming Q3 Quarterly eWorkshops

For the first time ever, Les Mills Asia Pacific will be live-streaming Q3 Quarterly eWorkshops, to accommodate the travel and distancing restrictions during the pandemic.

At Quarterly Workshops, thousands of Les Mills Instructors congregate together to upskill and learn the newest Les Mills Program Releases, by taking part in education sessions and practical Masterclasses that are delivered by international Presenters.

Streamed directly to thousands of Les Mills Instructors all across Asia Pacific on the 4th, 5th and 6th of September 2020, the online format of these eWorkshops is just the beginning of the many “firsts” that attendees will experience at this unique digital event. Here are some of the “never done before” offerings include:

    UNITED Releases

Every quarter, Les Mills releases brand new choreography and music for its Instructors and Club Partners. Filmed during lockdown by 374 of the world’s top fitness Instructors across 48 countries, these exclusive UNITED Release workouts are among the most inspiring Releases to-date. Attendees at the Q3 Quarterly eWorkshops will experience the UNITED Releases first-hand, for the first time.

Live Online Q&A Sessions With Program Directors

Hosted by Marlon Woods, this Q&A session will see Program Directors including Diana Archer Mills, Glen Ostergaard, Kylie Gates, Rachael Newsham answer the hard-hitting questions that Instructors have submitted.

    45-Minute CXWORX® Trial Format

While ground-breaking research has found CXWORX® can deliver substantial performance results for runners, all members can take their core fitness to the next level through participation in CXWORX. Typically a 30-minute class, attendees at the upcoming Q3 Quarterly eWorkshops will experience a “never done before” 45-minute CXWORX® Trial Format, and feedback from this masterclass will contribute to whether or not the format becomes a permanent offering.

    Secure a Spot

For just AUD19, Les Mills Instructors can attend the world-first CXWORX session, and their ticket includes full access to all educational sessions and masterclasses that are on offer all throughout the 4th, 5th and 6th of September. This means they can attend and learn all their favourite Les Mills programs – not just the ones they’re trained in!

To further engage and support their Les Mills Instructors, Club Partners of Les Mills Asia Pacific are invited to host an onsite gathering of those who are registered to attend the Q3 Quarterly eWorkshops, at their premises. Instructors will be able to access the equipment they need, plus reconnect with each other and the Club (while adhering to social distancing regulations, of course). If however, a Club is not yet open (hang in there!) then they may consider supporting their Les Mills Instructors by loaning out the equipment needed.

  • Media Release: World United – Global Fitness Event to Turbocharge Industry’s Relaunch

Media Release: World United – Global Fitness Event to Turbocharge Industry’s Relaunch

Les Mills has unveiled plans to kickstart the fitness industry’s COVID-19 recovery with a new campaign to help clubs reactivate paused members and attract new ones.

Expected to be the largest ever global fitness event, World United will see the synchronised launch of live and online fitness celebrations involving tens of thousands of fitness facilities and trainers worldwide kicking off from 19th September onwards.

The milestone activation will see clubs across the globe open their doors (or live-stream where necessary) to members and prospects for a thrilling day of fitness festivities. This will include the exclusive release of new United-themed Les Mills workouts, filmed during lockdown by 374 of the world’s top Instructors across 48 different countries.

For Les Mills Asia Pacific’s Club Partners, World United is a business accelerator, designed to support their relaunch strategies. It will help clubs to re-engage existing members and attract new ones through a marquee event that will dial up the fun factor and offer a strong PR hook for clubs to generate added buzz and publicity.

To help clubs successfully plan, promote, and prepare for World United launch activations, Les Mills has created a powerful World United campaign with photography and videos created by world-leading artists like Carlos Serrao. Clubs and Instructors can publicise their World United activities with a collection of marketing and relaunch resources, as well customisable event assets (print and digital) available from the World United campaign hub.

Ryan Hogan, Chief Executive Officer of Les Mills Asia Pacific says: “The resilience and resourcefulness our sector has shown in helping the world to keep moving during lockdown has been truly inspiring, and we’ve been proud to play a part in supporting our Club Partners and Instructors with digital solutions to overcome lockdown.”

Multiple reports and post-lockdown surveys have shown that the social elements such as group fitness and interactions with staff, are going to be the biggest drivers of recovery for fitness businesses and health clubs. Because after so many months of being kept apart, communities are yearning for human interaction and deeper connections so a unique opportunity exists to nurture the social aspects of our industry’s offerings.

“With health now everyone’s top priority, there are huge opportunities for clubs to attract new members and emerge as a stronger and more vital cog in society than ever before. The World United campaign is all about helping the industry to usher in a new growth phase and that’s why there is no Les Mills branding in this campaign – it is designed solely to promote our Club Partners and their Instructors.”

Fitness facilities across more than 100 countries worldwide are expected to celebrate World United, supported by a string of international fitness icons, as well as the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern.

In the campaign launch video for World United, Jacinda Ardern says: “Right now, we are obviously facing a major health challenge. But as we come out of this, exercise will have a vital part to play in uniting us, and keeping us both mentally and physically well.”

“Across the globe, you have all got an important role in making that happen, so thank you, good luck, and have a fabulous day.”

  • Media Release: Victorian Invited to Invest in Themselves

Media Release: Victorian Invited to Invest in Themselves

With much of the Victorian fitness industry closing its doors for the next six weeks, Les Mills Asia Pacific is inviting Instructors and fitness enthusiasts to consider investing in themselves by taking up its globally recognised instructor training.

“It’s such a frustrating time for our industry right now and our heart goes out to our Victorian Club Partners, Instructors and residents who have just entered another six-week lockdown,” said Ryan Hogan, Les Mills Asia Pacific’s Chief Executive Officer.

“For some, COVID-19 is serving as a catalyst to change careers. So what we’ve seen from the more mature markets post-lockdown is that despite the gyms reopening and members returning, some Instructors are choosing not to resume teaching – for many different reasons; and this opens the doors for new or upskilled Instructors to come on board.”

Les Mills workouts are delivered by 140,000 certified instructors in 20,000 clubs across 100 countries, and Les Mills Instructors enjoy a fully supported group fitness career, with fresh choreography and music released every three months.

Recently, Les Mills Asia Pacific launched ONLINE Initial Module Training (OIMT), which enables individuals to complete two of the three days of training to become a Les Mills Instructor, online. This makes the process more convenient as trainees do not have to travel to training locations, but can still learn live with the trainer and fellow trainees, online from the comfort of their home. Initial feedback received has been resoundingly positive from both trainees and trainers alike.

“With all that’s going on right now, we decided to bring forward a number of our Victorian training courses, so existing Instructors and fitness enthusiasts situated in this state, can have more opportunities to upskill and prepare themselves for when the industry reopens again,” Mr Hogan said. “Online and face-to-face Initial Module Training (IMT) are always ‘attached’ to a state or region, as Day 3 requires Instructors to attend this certification day face-to-face, in the state that the course is ‘attached to’.”

Since the pandemic commenced in March, Les Mills Asia Pacific has been actively providing support to its Club Partners and Instructors through online workouts, live-streaming opportunities, webinars, online reactivation resources, and more.

“The current demand for IMTs and OIMTs is a great sign that our industry will return, stronger than ever. We will continue to support our Club Partners and Instructors as best we can for as long as this situation continues.”
