ClubIntel Announces the Upcoming Launch of 4th Annual International Health/Fitness Industry Trend Study – What’s All the Rage

(Dallas, TX; August, 2018) – ClubIntel, the global leader in conducting market research related to the health/fitness industry, announced it will be launching the 4th Annual International Health/Fitness Industry Trend Study – What’s All the Rage in late September of 2018.

This fitness industry trend study, the most comprehensive in the fitness industry, explores the types of facilities/equipment, programs/services/training protocols and technologies that health/fitness professionals and operators use to differentiate their offering and support consumers on their journey to a healthier way of life. It is the only industry trend study that measures present levels of adoption for over 90 different trends and then tracks these changes over time.

The 2017 report, which garnered engagement from over 14,000 organizations around the globe, provided in-depth insights, such as:

    • Levels of market adoption experienced by 90 different fitness industry trends. For example, in 2017, the most highly adopted category of fitness equipment was traditional functional training equipment (e.g., medicine balls, stability balls, bands, etc.) with 76% of operators reporting they used functional equipment.
    • Over the past four years, HIIT GX and Barre have experienced the greatest growth of any programs, both growing by more than 30% from 2013 to 2017.
    • In 2017, the two fastest growing technology trends among fitness facilities over the previous four years were social media (approximately 25 percentage points) and mobile applications (approximately 19 percentage points).
    • The identification of niche trends that have appeal among a narrow consumer base such as holistic health services, medical spa services, EMS training, digital middlemen and physical therapy.
    • Pilates and dance-related group exercise programs are more popular in Europe than anywhere else in the world based on their level of adoption
    • Latin American operators are more likely to use social media and blogs than operators in other parts of the world, while Asian operators are the most likely to post membership pricing online.

The 2017 study was conducted in partnership with the following organizations: ACAD Brazil, Brazil; Active  Management, Australia/New Zealand; Association of Fitness Studios, U.S.; canfitpro, Canada; Club Industry, U.S.; Club Spa and Fitness Association, U.S.; Europe Active, Europe; Health Club Management U.K.; International Health, Racquet and Sportclub Association, U.S.; JCC’s of North America, U.S. and Canada; Leisure DB, U.K.; Mercado Fitness, Argentina; SCW Fitness Education, U.S.

This year’s study will provide the same depth of insight as previous years, including the exploration of emerging industry practices not previously measured such as the use of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, mobile wallets, digital payment gateways and mobile streaming fitness.

The 2018 International Health/Fitness Industry Trend Report – What’s All the Rage will be available free of charge through ClubIntel’s websites, as well as through its study partners by December 2018. From Our GCM Friends: The C.E.P.A Video Framework

It’s widely understood that when it comes to the most effective and engaging content, video is king. The written word, while still powerful, becomes even more engaging and effective in eliciting action, when your communications strategy features high-quality visual-based content.

In the “olden days”, recruiting professional videographers was reserved for businesses with elaborate visions and big budgets; but remember – back then, so too was personal training! Nowadays, the investment to engage the services of creative professionals who can tailor video production to suit your business and its individual needs is not only affordable but an activity that can deliver a seriously impressive ROI. And, the fitness industry is fortunate to have access to video production talent that specialises in productions for gyms, health clubs, studios, suppliers and other fitness businesses.

Of course, with so many advances in technology, the fact is, many of us are capable of actually creating highly effective video content under our own steam. Of course, its effectiveness is boosted when under the guidance of highly experienced professionals. For this reason, Gym Click Media created a FREE Video Content Creation Toolkit, specifically to help businesses and individuals ensure their video productions – whether DIY or professionally produced – are designed to achieve maximum cut-through and optimal engagement.

The FREE Video Content Creation Toolkit details the CEPA framework that Gym Click Media themselves follow for every campaign they undertake. • Press Release: PHIT Passes House For First Time, Makes History

Press Release: PHIT Passes House For First Time, Makes History

Twelve years ago, the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), the Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA), and the National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity (NCPPA) developed the idea to create a bill that would incentivize more Americans to be physically active.

Today, this idea is one step closer to becoming a reality because this afternoon this bill—The Personal Health Investment Today (PHIT) Act—was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives as
part of a larger HSA bill package (H.R. 6199) by a vote of 277 to 142.

The PHIT provision that passed would allow Americans to use tax-free accounts like HSAs and FSAs to pay for qualified fitness expenses, including health club memberships, sports safety equipment, and youth sports fees. Under the current version of the bill, individuals could use up to $500 to cover  these expenses and families could use up to $1,000.

“We knew that there would be increased opportunities to advance this legislation in the 115th Congress and we are thrilled to celebrate this significant victory,” said Helen Durkin, IHRSA’s
executive vice president of public policy. “While our work on PHIT is not finished, we’d like to take today to thank every individual and organization that has supported healthy lifestyles by speaking up in favor of the benefits that PHIT would provide to our citizens and our nation. Your passion for and commitment to helping others lead active, healthy lives has brought us to this historic moment.”

PHIT boasts broad bipartisan support. Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) and Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) serve as the original House sponsors and their support has been echoed by many others. Currently, PHIT has 153 total sponsors—136 in the House (71 Democrats and 65 Republicans) and 17 in the Senate (6 Democrats and 11 Republicans). Though the bill has been introduced with strong support in each Congress from the 110th through the current 115th, this is the first time it has passed the entire House.

Today, the House vote for PHIT recognized the need for a healthier, happier, more prosperous America. Now it’s the Senate’s turn to do the same.
