Snap Fitness Powers Ahead with 10 New Clubs in 10 Weeks Across Australia and New Zealand

Snap Fitness is celebrating a remarkable milestone, opening 10 new clubs in just 10 weeks as the brand continues to go from strength to strength.Snap Fitness

The rapid expansion reflects the strong demand for the Snap Fitness brand, recognised for its state-of-the-art club layouts, dedicated wellness spaces, and its proven 24/7 model that delivers flexibility and value to members.

Despite cost-of-living pressures, Australians and New Zealanders are continuing to prioritise their health and fitness — and the Snap Fitness model is proving more popular than ever.

Chris Caldwell, CEO of Lift Brands Asia Pacific (parent company of Snap Fitness), said the momentum is a clear sign of the brand’s strength and growing relevance.

“To open 10 new clubs in 10 weeks is a phenomenal achievement and a testament to the demand we’re seeing for the Snap Fitness model,” Mr Caldwell said.

“Our members are drawn to the combination of state-of-the-art facilities, wellness-focused spaces, and the flexibility of a 24/7 offering that works with busy lives.”

10 New Snap Fitness Clubs in 10 Weeks include:

    New South Wales

    • Tweed South (NSW)
    • Belmont (NSW)
    • Bomaderry (NSW)

    Victoria

    • Moonee Ponds (VIC)
    • Box Hill (VIC)
    • Charlemont Rise (VIC)
    • Botanic Ridge (VIC)

    Queensland

    • Burpengary East (QLD)

    New Zealand

    • Havelock North (NZ)
    • Highland Park (NZ)

The record-breaking period of growth also coincides with record-high franchisee enquiries, as entrepreneurs increasingly look for the security of proven, trusted brands while owning and growing their own businesses.

Notably, several of the new clubs are being opened by existing Snap Fitness franchisees, expanding into second or even third clubs — a strong endorsement of the brand’s success.

“Our record level of franchise enquiries shows the confidence entrepreneurs have in Snap Fitness. Equally, many of our new clubs are being opened by existing franchisees, which speaks volumes about the strength of our business model and the culture we’ve built.”

Caldwell said the expansion highlighted the resilience of the fitness industry and the growing importance of health and wellbeing in people’s lives.

“Even in the face of cost-of-living pressures, people are continuing to prioritise their health and fitness,” Mr Caldwell said.

“At Snap Fitness, we’ve built an offering that is both cost-effective and high quality, giving members the best of both worlds.”

With momentum building, Snap Fitness is looking ahead to more growth into 2026, when it will open its 350th location in ANZ, cementing its position as one of the leading fitness brands across Australia and New Zealand.

Full Ownership of 9Round Back Under The Umbrella of Striking Brands

Lift Brands has announced the sale of its minority share (40%) in the 9Round brand back to Striking Brands, the parent company of 9Round globally. 9Round has operated in Australia and New Zealand since 2011.

This transaction marks a positive step forward for both companies, as Lift Brands focuses on the ongoing success of its Snap Fitness and Fitstop networks, while Striking Brands leads 9Round into a new era of innovation and growth.

As part of this transition, Striking Brands will also acquire the master franchise rights for 9Round in Australia and New Zealand, assuming operational responsibility and network support beginning in April 2025.

Chris Caldwell, CEO of Lift Brands APAC, expressed his support for the transition and highlighted Lift Brands’ continued growth in the region.

“We congratulate Shannon and Heather Hudson, 9Round’s Founders, and the Striking Brands team on re-acquiring 9Round and look forward to seeing the brand continue to evolve under their leadership,” Mr Caldwell said.

“This move aligns with our strategic focus on expanding our Snap Fitness and Fitstop brands, which are experiencing significant momentum in Australia and New Zealand.

“Lift Brands remains committed to delivering exceptional fitness experiences and supporting our franchise partners in achieving long-term success.”

Shannon Hudson, CEO of Striking Brands, shared his excitement for the acquisition and the future of 9Round in the ANZ region.

  • Snap Fitness Set To Launch In Cairns

Snap Fitness Set To Launch In Cairns

Jumping into a New Year’s fitness resolution, and sticking to it, is set to become easier for the Cairns community, with the first 24/7 Snap Fitness club set to open in February 2025 at Raintrees Shopping Centre.

Snap Fitness is a global leader in the fitness industry, with over 1,000 clubs worldwide and more than 260 in Australia that offer 24/7 access to state-of-the-art facilities and personalised training programs designed to help members achieve their fitness goals.

Franchisees of Snap Fitness Cairns Nathan and Angie Daley said the wait was finally over and they were excited to bring the Snap Fitness global brand to Cairns.

“We are excited to announce Snap Fitness is finally coming to Cairns! The first club will open in early February at the Raintrees Shopping Centre, Manunda and we can’t wait,” Mr Daley said.

“The new club will offer the latest training equipment in a functional environment that has a dedicated Pilates studio, open plan weights area and a cardio room – no matter how you like to train, the new Snap Fitness caters for all your needs.

“This will be the first Snap Fitness Club in the region with more to come! As we gear up for the grand opening, we are looking to onboard foundation members as well as fill a variety of fitness career opportunities.”

Snap Fitness National Sales Manager Gabe Condello said the entry into the Cairns market was off the back of strong population growth and heightened demand for fitness facilities that offered round the clock secure access.

“We are thrilled to announce Snap Fitness’ entry into the Cairns market – it’s something we have been working on for a long time and now have a number of territories and sites selected,” Mr Condello said.

“Given the population growth in Cairns and the active lifestyles of many, we wanted to be able to launch our brand when we could open more than just one club. This means more of the Cairns community can have convenient access to a Snap Fitness in their local area,” Mr Condello said.

“There is also demand for more affordable fitness facilities in the region that offer flexible and secure access. The 24/7 Snap Fitness model fits in with life, meaning you can fit in a workout when it suits you, regardless of time of day.”

Snap Fitness was drawn to Raintrees Shopping Centre following the centre’s multimillion-dollar redevelopment and new tenant mix.

Raintrees Shopping Centre Manager Karen Stabile said the centre was thrilled to be home to the first Snap Fitness club in Cairns.

“We are thrilled to have a global brand like Snap Fitness join us at Raintrees Shopping Centre and to be the location of the brand’s first club in Cairns makes it fantastic for our local community,” Ms Stabile said.

“The centre prides itself on offering everyday convenience from grocery and retail through to the Manunda Library and Cairns Kids. Adding Snap Fitness to our tenant portfolio means the community can now mix in a bit of Pilates or a quick workout as well.”

In the past 12 months, Snap Fitness has experienced record franchise enquiry and new club openings and the upcoming Cairns clubs will add to the new club openings in 2025.

  • Press Release: Snap Fitness Franchise Locations Around The World Are Making Myzone a Brand Standard

Press Release: Snap Fitness Franchise Locations Around The World Are Making Myzone a Brand Standard

Myzone is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with Snap Fitness that requires all Snap Fitness franchises in the USA, Australia and New Zealand to install Myzone technology in their facility.

This agreement will assist Snap Fitness locations in making members feel good about exercise, driving member engagement and retention using the most ‘relevant’ wearable technology in the fitness industry.

Peter Taunton, Lift Brands CEO, was one of the first fitness chains in the world to install Myzone in his facility back in 2012. He says “I recognized back then that wearable technology had a role in motivating the Snap Fitness community to put effort into exercise. Getting feedback on effort inspires more of the same behavior, which is the secret to building routine. This is fundamentally why we have mandated Myzone technology in our locations.”

Snap Fitness will also be launching a new training program that leverages Myzone technology called MYFIT. The program, set to go live Q4 2018, will consist of 365 daily functional training workouts and is supported by the video display Myzone has built called ‘MZ-Instruct.’ The video display includes 9 video tiles exemplifying the 9 movements used in the daily workout and each movement is paired with a colored heart rate zone indicator to encourage members to maximize their effort. MYFIT will deliver a dynamic functional workout to Snap Fitness members with no instructor required.

“The goal of MYFIT is to engage members and help them achieve results, at a cost that works for both members and franchisee – that added cost being zero,” said Mike Vaught, Personal Training Department Manager at Snap Fitness.

MZ-Instruct video display utilizes the Myzone software to allow clubs to deliver professional and consistent programming for a full-body functional workout. Within the software, you can design video-based classes that will play on the Myzone screen to guide members through exercises. It is the ideal digital companion to instructors or managers to ensure members are using correct form and delivery each time.

“We are delighted to be rolling out MZ-Instruct at Snap Fitness locations,” said Dave Wright, CEO of Myzone, “Peter Taunton and his team have been nothing but supportive to Myzone since 2012 when we were in the early development stages of the product. He saw the trend with video and is yet again leading the way, this time with a model that not only helps eliminate payroll but provides quality instructions the operator can control.”

“Myzone has allowed us to deliver a premium product for no extra cost,” said Taunton, “It’s truly a disruptive move that supports the members and the franchisee.”  Myzone is currently represented in over 5,000 facilities in 65+ countries and translated into 19 languages.

    About Myzone

Myzone delivers a wearable and digital technology solution for the fitness industry.

The wearable fitness tracker shows and rewards effort when you work out. Myzone displays real-time heart rate, calories, and intensity with five simple color-coded personalized zones. The telemetry can be displayed collectively in group settings and exercise classes, or individually direct to your smartphone via the Myzone app. The app allows engagement, motivation, and communities to flourish.

Myzone amplifies the group exercise experience; it provides valuable data for personal training departments with built-in challenges, personal goals, gamification and an online social community, users are motivated to sustain physical activity through a fun, engaging, and inclusive platform.
