LA Fitness Goes A La Carte

Similar to last week sample from Fighting For Fitness we feel this is a great looking piece for internal advertising.

    7th Apr I 7th Apr II

The images are fantastic.  The copy a little weak. And of course no call to action.  The question is, is there are a compelling enough message to have members buy ‘’A la carte”?

  • Fighting For Fitness Dabbling In Nutrition

Fighting For Fitness Dabbling In Nutrition

We all know to get long term results our exercise program must be accompanied by a nutrition program so Fighting For Fitness are advertising their package with these two ads:

    31st Mar II

    31st Mar I

We think they are well branded and on them with boxing.  As an internal promotion or as a Facebook ad/post they could be effective. That is, when your consumer knows you.

For an external promo, the average punter just won’t get it.

    Do you?

Researchers identified that the mere presence of point values influenced consumer buying.

Even when the value of the loyalty points was less than the real money value, consumer were swayed by loyalty points.

The key is to keep your members engaged with such a program by letting them monitor their progress and remind them of the program if they have not bought for awhile.

To gain greater engagement and excitement, give a bonus to start. If you can quickly move people toward the goal they will stay motivated and loyal.

    Future Thoughts

The current environment is forcing every business to become a media company first.

With 80% of people untapped the fitness industry can create new customers not battle over old ones.

The quickest way to go out of business is to be romantic about how you do business.

Innovation. Doesn’t care about you or me.

    Words of Wisdom

The market is the market … Keep up! Give value! Give a crap about your customer!

“Do you know how much press you would get if you did something worthwhile!”

Health clubs are going to have to innovate. He says personal training will get easier & more accessible thanks to Silicon Valley!

If you only bring value because you have a physical facility you are in trouble.

Some dude bought 400 horses the day before Henry Ford launched the car!

“Not giving price over the phone is the most insane shit I’ve heard! Be proud of your price! Someone will always be cheaper.”

    Fitness Marketing Tips Marketing Checklist

Are your struggling to design a marketing piece this may help:

    1. Your headline is critical as it must grab your attention
    2. Once the old brain of your potential customer judges, it is VERY hard to get it back. So get your message right from the start.
    3. Videos of clients sharing their before and after story will be powerful. Have them explain, the pain before using your product stories and then their life after using your solution.
    4. When you use client stories or testimonials make sure you show the connection to your target market – don’t assume.
    5. Before pictures on the left hand side and after pictures on the right hand side
    6. Whatever claims you have about your business – which are a critical element in your marketing message, keep them short & highly relevant. And repeat!
    7. Ensure 70% of your marketing effort is on showing tangible proof of what you have done!

    Social Media ThoughtsGV ImagePart III

If you don’t buy into the religion of social media then using any tactic like photos, videos, time to post, etc is irrelevant.

Important to realise that social media is not the concept … society is the concept!

Surprise & delight to the fans who share/engage. Reward with authenticity!

Just jump in and act human!

You cannot execute social media over night. Get into it now & you’ll be ready in the years to come!

Are you following ALL your fans/members on social media so you can have an engaging conversation with them.  This means when they come for a workout you can have an engaging and personal conversation with them.

Your psychology is different on different social media platforms. You need to act different. Context is critical!

Not enough health clubs use Instagram or Google ad words.

Instagram is the new Facebook.  So every club should have a full press attack on Instagram.

Twitter lets you hear what people are saying.  This is a HUGE advantage that we now have in business that has NEVER existed. Clubs just are not listening.  For example, Gary searched on Twitter 15 minutes before his presentation and found 100,000 people were at that point working out and these are people you can start connecting with.

Search twitter to find people in your area talking about fitness and engage with them.  Not sell them, engage with them.

If you are going to hire someone to do your social media, ensure they have already done it!!! That’s the key for a successful social media campaign!

Carrying on from yesterday, here are Gary’s thoughts.

    Marketing Insights

Health clubs need to build trust with potential customers which means sending information.  25% of your marketing budget is wasted. You are trying to sell not build a relationship.  Gary calls this a ‘Right Hook’.

Businesses in general need to bring more value by story telling. So work out your story and that resonated with potential customers and current.

The average 27 year old doesn’t see the right hand side of a computer because they have grown up with Facebook.  That is, they know there is advertising there so means they do not see anything on the right hand of the screen.

We now live in a world where there has been an explosion of word of mouth marketing. And social media is the plumbing to push the message.

Websites must be mobile friendly. He challenged the value of websites compared with the power and reach of social media.

To market your fitness business, change yourself to a media company: a company that pushes out content.  In quiet times in health clubs develop content: a TV show, blogs, info graphics, etc. He even suggested employing a journalist to write for you and/or a camera friendly person to ‘star’ in your videos.  Change your employment guidelines and get someone who can be nice to customers off line and get customers on-line for you!
