Guerilla Marketing from Great Harvest Bread Company

I got this great marketing tip from Jay Conrad Levinson and have to share it with you as it is a practical example for us all to follow. great harvest bread co

‘Janene Centurione, who runs Great Harvest Bread Bakeries, a $1.75 million business in Michigan, knows the power of enthusiastic customers. She has formed a Bread Zealot Club, enlisting the most zealous of all customers to help spread the word about her company. She and her employees find these people from among the customers who ask the most questions and seem the most enthused about bread.

Each month, she sends postcards to nearly 7,000 bread zealots, representing a hefty 20% of her customers. The postcards reveal bread recipes, early notices about new products, occasional 10% off coupons, and other goodies about bread and the bread biz. When new customers ask for a new kind of bread, Janene knows it’s a zealot because the only place that bread is mentioned is on the postcards.

The cost of her program runs about $7 per zealot yearly, but each zealot brings in about $200 in new business yearly. Her net sales grew 18% a year for the first three years of her Zealot Club, and the number of zealots increased nearly 1000%.

She used to spend $80 per year for each new customer, investing it in traditional advertising. Today, she invests nearly her total budget in her sparkling referral program. Her primary marketing medium is the satisfied customer. Janene knows about geometric growth.’

Hope this gives you an idea or two!

  • How YOU Can Be More Productive

How YOU Can Be More Productive

People often ask me how do I get so much achieved. I have a very good Team that I feel very comfortable delegating work to. However, here are some tips that may help you:Global productivity and sales concept

    1. Pick Your Priorities

I make choices about the activities in my life. Focus on spending time that for you is fun and productive. My choices are based on the lifestyle I want.

    2. Go For Efficiency

None of us do everything well. The things you do well usually give you greater joy and require less time. I try not to take on something with a steep learning curve when I know I don’t have the available time.

    3. Actively Manage Time-wasters

Make a choice to limit non-supportive interactions that don’t energise you. I try to do just the stuff that takes me forward.

    4. Be an Active Learner

I am always looking for a new way to save time and get an hour back here or there. Just try it and dump it quick if it starts to drag on.

    5. Lighten Up

I have changed my thoughts about work and life and don’t beat myself up if I can’t do all the things I want. I know the world won’t end because I left a few things undone.

    6. Celebrate

Every completion is a small victory that adds up in a big way. I always take time to acknowledge what I have achieved – even if is just for 30 seconds!

  • Personal Training Business Marketing Tip: MeetYourPT

Personal Training Business Marketing Tip: MeetYourPT

Did you know that there are directories in Australia that are exclusively for advertising Personal Training businesses?

Were all familiar with publications like the Yellow Pages and sites like Google, but what happens when you “Google” the words ‘Personal Trainer”?

The first thing that comes up is a directory of Personal Trainers by the name of ‘Meet Your Personal Trainer.com.au”. This is a directory where people from all over Australia can go and type in their postcode to find a PT in the area near them.

So, there are two things to consider here.

    1) Is your business listed on this or any other online directory?

    2) Are your competitors listed on this or any other online directory?

If growing your client base (1:1 or group sessions) is up the top of your business priority list, then having a presence in one of more of these directories should be in your marketing plan.

First up, check what your options are, then be sure to weigh up the cost of the investment versus the number of people visiting each site.

Don’t be afraid to negotiate on the listing price, or even ask if they have a trial deal for the first month.
