Cloud Computing Accounting Solutions a.k.a Stuff that helps us manage money better

If there is one thing that Personal Trainers and Gym owners love more than anything, its managing finances, dealing with invoices and tracking expenses.

Ok, not really, but lucky for us there are experts like Heather Smith that make it simple and take all the hard work out of it. Here are some great tips from Heather about Cloud Computing Accounting Solutions.

    • Be aware that Cloud Computing usage is reliant on internet access
    • When looking for an online accounting system, consider: Invoicing inventory, BAS, payroll and reporting
    • Application Programming Interface (API) is a key that allows software to communicate with other software (eg: accounts software with shopping cart or CRM etc)
    • Bank Feeds: Your bank links up to the online accounting software, and automatically matches a transaction for you to confirm fast and immediate reconciliation
    • Saasou and Live Accounts systems both offer a 30 day free trial

In addition, Heather has supplied a few links for us to check out: www.saasu.com/ compare a comparison of the different cloud solutions and www.onesaas.com an example of the connector that will link various online solutions together.

If all of that is sounding clear as mud, then its time to email [email protected] and get your hands on a copy of the full webinar for just $50. Then make sure you watch until the end so you can check out the very special offer Heather has extended to friends of PTBizCoach who watch the webinar. • Top 6.5 Referral Strategies

Following on from last month’s article from Jeffrey Gittomer on referrals, here is what he says are the top 6.5 ways to get referrals:

    • Deliver memorable service. It’s simple. Be friendly and helpful, and give positive responses.Arrows and blocks
    • Be available. Make it easy to do business with you and anyone else in your company all the time.
    • Be a consistent value provider. Create an email magazine and blog with content that helps customers, and a business Facebook page where you post positive and helpful information and good news, and allow for customer interaction.
    • Give a referral to the customer. This requires work, but it’s a great way to prove your worth.
    • Get them one LinkedIn contact they can benefit from. See if any of your connections could be of value to your customers, and make connections.
    • Develop the relationship slowly over time. Create your long-term value plan, and execute it consistently. Always post a ‘thank you’ for referred business.
    • And 6.5: DON’T ASK FOR A REFERRAL IF YOU HAVEN’T EARNED ONE.

There’s an underlying powerful message in what I’m saying here. It’s about having a philosophy of giving, without the expectation of getting anything in return. This philosophy, if adopted, will give you a lifetime of fulfillment without an ounce of regret, remorse, or resentment.

Give to give. Don’t give to get.

  • Sales Tips from Jeffrey Gitomer

    Sales Tips from Jeffrey Gitomer

These wise words from Gitomer share why you or your team may experience a sales slump:21 May

    • Poor belief system. I don’t believe that my company or product is the best. I don’t think that I’m the best.
    • Poor work habits. Getting to work late, or barely ‘on time’. Not spending your time with people who can say ‘yes’.
    • Misperceptions that lead to sour grapes. I think my prices are too high, or my territory is bad.
    • Outside pressure. Caused by money problems, family problems, or personal problems.
    • Poor personal habits. Too much drink, too much food, or too much after-hours play.
    • Boss giving crap instead of support. Someone who says, ‘You better do it,’ instead of, ‘I know you can do it.’
    • Events that go against you. New salesperson passes you, someone else gets promoted and you know it should have been you.
    • Customer cancels a big order. Weakening your personal belief or causing severe money problems – or both.
    • Competition cuts price and steals the order. This is the new reality of business.
    • Getting depressed. From any of the above.

    His answer to the slump:

Gitomer’s final comments: ‘What causes a slump? You do. Therefore, you are the best (and only) person to fix it.’

    Bioritmo Hits 100,000 People

Bioritmo is one of the most successful chains of clubs in the world. Based in Brazil, I love this marketing and obviously so do the Brazilians!!!

This is an old flyer when they reached 100,000 members (now they have 231,000 members across their two brands) and members were asked to upload their avatar picture to the Facebook page – which they used in this flyer.

The translation says something like:  “The group Bio Ritmo, largest gym’s group in Latin America, reached an incredible 100,000 members in 48 clubs. We like to innovate and increase the quality of life to all of these 100,000 people. And the best way of saying thank you is saying THANKS 100,000 times.”

  • Your Facebook Page Influences Potential Members

Your Facebook Page Influences Potential Members

It may have been in the April 2011 ‘S-Net: The Impact of Social Media’ study by ROI Research that it was found that 60% of US social network users were at least somewhat likely to take action when a friend posted something Thumb Up Signabout a product, service, company or brand on a social media site – the only thing that has changed is that the percentage has increased!

On Facebook, 53% of respondents said their top activities would be purchasing the brand or company’s product and recommending the company or product. For Twitter, the top activities were talking about the company or product (61%), recommending the company or product (59%), and purchasing the brand or company’s product (58%).

Fans or followers of a brand are influenced by what they see from these company accounts, but they are also influenced by what their friends say about brands or companies that they don’t necessarily follow. It’s another area for marketers to focus on – the reach they have and how their brand fans may influence their own friends and followers.

  • Personal Trainer Tips: Why scrambled eggs don’t belong on the gym floor

Personal Trainer Tips: Why scrambled eggs don’t belong on the gym floor

It occurred to me recently that we spend a lot of time talking about what we should do as personal trainers to improve & enhance our businesses, yet sometimes it’s what we shouldn’t do that makes all the difference.eggs

The thought crossed my mind as I was walking through a shopping centre car park last week and out of the corner of my eye saw a small group of uniformed gym staff (one PT and the other two sales people) hanging out in a dodgy corner of the stairwell sucking down a packet of cigarettes.

Then there is the trainer I see every other week, who’s obviously convinced that he must have his protein fix of scrambled eggs in a take away plastic container at 7am each morning, whilst training his client, in the middle of the weights room floor of a busy city gym.

While its pretty obvious that these guys won’t be hanging out in the fitness industry for too long, what about some other No-Go areas that are less obvious, but just as significant, when it comes to how they might affect your business.

Here’s are our Top 5 things PT’s should not do!

    1. Don’t get complacent – ongoing education and learning will increase your knowledge and your profits.
    2. Don’t steal clients from other trainers – it’s the best way to fast track to a bad reputation.
    3. Don’t be a hero – always schedule in breaks and time out for yourself, working 24/7 isn’t healthy for anyone.
    4. Don’t get absorbed or obsessed entirely in one trend – Depending on your demographic area, this might limit your opportunity to maximize your income.
    5.  Don’t do exercises you wouldn’t or couldn’t do yourself – A handstand push up might look impressive, but chances are 63 year old Mabel might struggle with it.

They’re just a few of our favorites, let us know if you have some of your own…
