#Filex2014 Wrap: Wearable Technology at The Business Summit

I had no idea that people would listen so attentively to me!  So thank you but I need to clarify something . . .

I indeed pointed out that with coming technology the future for strap on heart rate monitors is bleak and in fact nigh.  This doesn’t mean the technology is useless now or will end tomorrow.  It means that it is in the future.

I am 100% positive that those products that use strap on heart rate monitoring devices, will be evolving their products to keep up with the new technological advances.

So for the people who went to the MYZONE booth or spoke with Mike or MJ and said “JT said that you shouldn’t buy strap on devices,” I am sorry to correct you BUT . . . I didn’t say that.

And most importantly I will reiterate that I am 100% positive that MYZONE will be at the forefront of the advances as they become available!

Anyway, I digress LOL!

I would like to emphasis that you can use and should use the wearable devices to compliment and support what you do in your fitness business.  There are cool ‘toys’ that your members will love to use if you build them into a program.

Don’t put your head in the sand, as that action leaves a part of your anatomy vulnerable!

You can download my notes on wearable technology here.

FYI – here is a video I didn’t have time to play in the summit of where devices are heading.

To keep abreast of all the cool technology advances, can I suggest you become a member of Active Management?  I share devices, websites, ideas and tools that will keep you up to date with this aspect of the industry.  It will be nice to be an early adopter as opposed to missing the boat!  Become a member online in 3 clicks – start here.

I have always been a bit old school when it comes to technology & exercise, preferring to use good ol’ pen & paper. However, after listening to you at the Business Summit it really highlighted for me, how prominent technology is becoming in so many people’s exercise regime from planning, to recording, to analysing. The point you made that apps are widely used by people who aren’t comfortable to enter into a gym environment couldn’t be more accurate…what a great opportunity for us all!
