#JTInTheRaw Show 79 | 3 Steps To Do More Each Day With Less Effort

You’ve had time off and now it’s time to get your shit together!  It you are ever going to change your work habits now is the time to start and today I’m going to share with you a challenge for #JTInTheRaw listeners. Stay tuned and I’ll tell you more . . .

Welcome to #JTInTheRaw show 79 where I chew the thin on business – small business, large business, management of business and any industry business.  My goal is to making you think and do different in 2018 and today I’m focusing on you!

 And the first step to making this change is making the decision to make the change!  More on that shortly.

Shout Outs

A couple of shout outs this morning, so I’ll keep them short and very sweet . . .

  • A huge welcome to Jess to the Active Management Team.  Jess came highly recommended by Scott and Kim from Anytime Fitness and joins our Team as our new Membership Captain.  She has two roles with us: selling memberships and on-boarding new members!  So if you’re a member you can expect to hear from Jess at some stage in 2018 and if you are not a member, you can definitely expect to hear from Jess!  Make her job easier by becoming a member now.  If you would like to know what’s included in an Active Management membership, pop ‘Active’ in the comments and I’ll send you the link – don’t worry Jess doesn’t start for 2 weeks, so you won’t get a call!
  • Anyone in the fitness industry listening today.  You have got to go to www.FitnessBusinessPodcast.com and:
  • Subscribe to the show, so you don’t miss next week’s interview with Lisa Bodell. I heard it yesterday and it is AWESOME!
  • And while you’re there check out the #FBP Family Discounts.  Suppliers across the world are giving discounts to you – click here. FYI Casey Conrad is giving away a free copy of her book!
  • And finally a shout out to Craig Hale.  Craig is a member of one of my Industry Leaders Roundtable and he suggested that I call every member prior to a meeting.  I have been doing that this week and it has been super rewarding.  Thanks Craig for that suggestion you have helped me make Roundtable better!

Applications are now open to join the various Industry Leaders Roundtable, so email me now!

Getting Your Sh*t Together This Year

My newsfeed this week has been filled with people sharing the importance of setting goals and how to set goals. And for may people this is exactly what they need.

But you know me, I want you to think and do different in 2018 and that starts way before setting any goals it starts with your personal habits.

I know many of you started back at work this week because the gym was busier at 5:30am!  And if this wasn’t your first week back then next week will be.  Either way, you’ve had a couple of weeks off your usual schedule, so now is the same to make a change.

Your number 1 challenge to achieving more in your day is planning your day.  You know whether at work or in life when there is a plan we feel in control.  And yet at work we are “too busy” to plan!  The reason you are too busy is because you haven’t planned!  Take the time to plan and you’ll stay in control and reduce your stress!

I am a big fan of planning my next day as the last thing of the current day.

Now there are a couple of schools of thoughts on what that plan looks like.  The most popular are a “To do list” and others identify the top 3 tasks that are non-negotiable to be completed the next day.  Whichever you prefer just start doing it!!!

The next part of doing more, is then scheduling when you are going to do these things.  This means using a diary!  And to be honest I don’t care if you use a computerised dairy or a paper diary.  You decide what works for you and then make it work for you!

You have to allocate a time frame or time frames to work on your list.

And for many of us the real challenge then begins the next day and that challenge is sticking to that schedule!

The reality is there no greater challenge to our personal discipline than sticking to our schedule.  If you want to be a high performer, less stressed and more in control then you must stick to your schedule.  You have to stick with it for 2 or 3 weeks, until it becomes a habit for you.

And that is the 3-step challenge I am giving you beginning next Wednesday:

  1. Plan your next day before your go home;
  2. Block time out of your diary to do your tasks;
  3. Stick with that schedule the next day.

And follow this system for 10 straight work days!

2018 Announcement

Now here is the BIG announcement.  In 2018, I am going to give you a personal challenge every 3 weeks.  This challenge will be around getting your personal shot together so that you are healthier, happier and more productive!

Every 3 weeks, you will have a new 2 week challenge!  You can do it yourself, share it with your team and even skip it.  The choice is yours but I guarantee that you will be healthier, happier and more productive.  And give me a thumbs up if you want to be healthier, happier and more productive.

So stay tuned each week to #JTInTheRaw and feel free to share the show by tagging anyone in the comments whom you think could do with a nudge to be healthier, happier and more productive.

This Week

My life pretty much returns to normal this week: coaching calls, prep’ing for Roundtable meetings and researching on how to think and do different this year.

I know you may think today’s show was pretty basic and no rocket science to produce your hundreds or thousands of dollars in income.  But I beg to differ, get your shit together with a plan each day and sticking to the schedule and I guarantee you’ll reap the rewards.

And please share the show by tagging anyone in the comments you think who could do with that little nudge in achieving more.

Quote of the Week

To be healthier, happier and more productive start each day with a plan & stick to it.
