Meredith Littlefair Aims For Fitness Australia to Engage the Community
As Fitness Professionals we do what we do because we genuinely believe in the power of our industry to positively change lives. We have a sincere desire to make a difference to the lives of others by encouraging and motivating our members and community to exercise and improve their overall health and well-being.
I share this passion and commitment with the members of Fitness Australia and would welcome the opportunity to further utilise my knowledge and experience to assist in providing support to the industry and subsequently encourage more Australians to exercise.
Having worked in the Health & Fitness Industry for over 25 years in many varied service and managerial roles I believe my prevalent employment experience covers a wide range of specific services represented in our industry.
My vision for the fitness industry is to encourage more of the population to exercise in the pursuit of a healthier nation. This involves working as a united industry alongside the Australian government, like-minded health organizations, as well as state and local governments to attract more of the general community to engage in our services and reap the benefits. By working together to reach this goal I believe we can decrease health problems, reverse the current trend of obesity and increase the current physical exercise participation rate across Australia.
I have a strong interest in developing fitness for ‘special populations’ and as such instigated a contracted business to operate within our gym providing a program for returned service personnel (primarily Vietnam Vets) which encourages group training and social activities for over 90 clients. I also coordinate the ‘Life Program’, a program for people with various disabilities. This program provides trained staff to supervise the development of local students studying Certificate IV Personal Training. My goal will be to facilitate the development of similar initiatives within the framework of Fitness Australia.
I have a thorough knowledge of the current issues, trends and challenges facing gym owners/managers, supervisors and fitness professionals. My experience across this broad range means I am fully versed to represent the interests and support the requirements of the members of Fitness Australia.
I am passionate about making a difference to our industry and strongly support Fitness Australia’s objectives of setting and maintaining standards of excellence.
