Qantas & NIB Pair Up To Get Aussies Moving
What a massive announcement this week from Qantas & nib. If you missed it click here to read.
Qantas Assure will allow members to earn frequent flyer points not just for paying their bills, but also for meeting targets through a wellness app that syncs with popular forms of wearable technology when the policy launches in the first half of next year. The apps will log the number of steps taken in a day and then deposit Qantas frequent flyer points in member accounts.
Short opinion: LOVE IT!
The concept is absolutely brilliant as it uses gamification to give extrinsic motivation to working out before intrinsic motivation kicks in.
The real challenge will be converting people from one health fund to another health fund. I can’t imagine this will get new people signing up to Qantas Assure but it may entice people to switch over – or will that be all too hard? I guess it is ‘watch this space’?
Regardless of the success of the program the initiative is awesome! I hope more companies explore how to get people moving more using gamification.
