Randi Zuckerberg Live Streamed At #IHRSA2016
Before you ask – YES!
Randi is related to Mark and did work at Facebook in the early years. She recounted her exact words: “I would not work for my brother’s stupid company!”
She now shares powerful insights into growing your brand and following online. And her presentation at IHRSA2016 I am sure increased her following.
Randi had an an infectious energy from the stage that just flowed across the room. She had people jumping in their seats; tapping their toes; laughing; and grabbing their devices and leaping onto their social platforms. Her presentation was the BEST example of creating an action of what you want your members to do IMMEDIATELY after a class or after a session – tell people!
Now she talked so fast, it was hard to keep up but here are some of my insights.
What do you want people who work for you to FEEL when they work for you? The emphasis of how they feel will indicate the culture you are creating in your business.
In the new online world, remove the fear of failure or looking silly from your culture. It is amazing what happens when you remove fear of failure.
You want your team to be remarkable (have people make remarks) in their communication. In fact, the workforce is blurred now between employee and online entrepreneur or celebrity. You should see this as exciting and encourage them.
You must be using You Tube! This is a very rich medium for conveying messages and information. It is the number 1 way to engage with your current and future customers.
People often forget about LinkedIn as a social platform. Often you will get more engagement and more importantly you can talk to the real decision makers.
The new way to market and retail is taking advantage of SIPs – socially important people. The line is now blurred between celebrities and people who have thousands of followers and fans. The latter impact sales immensely. For example the 1888 Hotel in Sydney Australia offered a free night’s accommodation to anyone who had 10,000 Instagram followers.
In our marketing we need to be bold, different, fast and humorous.
Most important point for me:
Communicate like a media company. Content. Content. Content.
