Snap Fitness Strides Ahead With Parkrun Australia
Two-year partnership announced
parkrunners and treadmill enthusiasts will now have the best of both worlds thanks to the launch of a new two-year partnership between Snap Fitness and parkrun Australia – aimed at getting communities more connected and active.
parkrun launched in Australia in 2011, and since then more than one million Australians have walked, run and volunteered at the free 5k events that take place in more than 500 locations around the country each Saturday.
Chris Caldwell, CEO of Snap Fitness’ parent company Lift Brands APAC, said the partnership was about celebrating and supporting people to get more active in any environment.
“Snap Fitness is proud to partner with parkrun Australia to support healthier, more active communities. With over 1,000 clubs worldwide, including more than 250 in Australia, we’re dedicated to making fitness accessible and welcoming for everyone,” Mr Caldwell said.
“Running and strength training work together to improve fitness, prevent injuries, boost performance and promote positive mental health. That’s why we’ve partnered with parkrun Australia to support parkrunners every step of the way.
“Whether it’s your first parkrun or your next gym session, our 24/7 clubs offer welcoming spaces, state-of-the-art equipment, and personalised support to help keep people active and achieve their goals.”
As part of the partnership Snap Fitness members will be able to take part in local parkrun events with their Snap Fitness team as an extension of their in-club training. While parkrunners will have access to a free 14-day membership to try out their local Snap Fitness, with further details of the offer available in the new year.
“We are looking forward to seeing our clubs participate in their local parkrun events and giving Snap Fitness members the opportunity to take part as a team. The more the merrier – it’s all about fun and participation!
“For parkrunners, our clubs are looking forward to welcoming a few new faces who are keen to supplement their running with some strength training.”
parkrun Asia Pacific Managing Director Renee Gimbert said the support of partners was vital to the growth and success of parkrun in Australia.
“parkrun Australia is thrilled to welcome Snap Fitness to the parkrun family for the next two years. Having recently launched our 500th event in Australia, their support will help parkrun continue to grow and give more people in more communities the opportunity to get active and participate in a free, fun and enjoyable weekly event.
“We look forward to welcoming Snap Fitness teams to our local events, while giving parkrunners the chance to experience a Snap Fitness club to complement their parkrun routine.”
In addition to the parkrun Australia partnership, Snap Fitness has a major charity partnership with LIVIN to promote mental health and has raised more than $300,000 over the past five years.
