Starbucks Get Rewarding Status. What Are You Doing?
Last week a pull up banner in Starbucks attracted my attention.
If you listen to the Fitness Business Podcast you will know that as I talk about consumer trends I love talking about status.
You see for the past few years, status and the desire by consumers to grow their status with their preferred companies is growing (some say exponentially!). I am always looking for what big brands are doing around status.
I searched throughout Starbucks and found a little flyer explaining their status program.
I love the two levels, it gives something for people to strive toward. It appears the only way to get to Gold is spending money. This is fine and will have integrity, so long as Starbucks don’t ‘sell off’ the opportunity to get to Gold in another way.
The key to status is integrity. You can’t buy it. You have to earn it and people will value it more.
Before I put the flyer down, I looked at the back. They have used smart neuro-marketing on the back by spiking ‘anticipation.’ Saying ‘more great things to come’ sparks the interest of the reader and will inspire even more people to enrol in their program.
And in the window in another Starbucks was this great way to boost income on a slow day:
