#JTInTheRaw Show 10: Confessions Of A Small Business Owner
Today we hit double figures in shows and thank you for watching, sharing and supporting.
I am wearing a rugby jersey for Jersey Day. Today has been inspired by the story of Nathan Gremmo who was tragically lost in an accident in 2015. Nathan’s family chose to give the gift of life to others to honour the legacy of Nathan’s generous personality. Today they ask you to wear your favourite sporting jersey to show your support of the DonateLife network and begin the conversation with friends and families about Organ Donation.

Confessions Of A Business Owners: Small Business Big Decisions
It’s been a big week at Active Management this week! One full of frustration, innovation and decision making.
As a business coach or consultant I spend my life helping other businesses. From an external viewpoint you can see so much more. This week I hopped into my helicopter and had a good look at my business.
My frustration – we are busting our butts here to make our on-line membership smoking hot! We load new content every week and last month we had our first virtual roundtable. We didn’t get the traction or engagement from our members that we wanted.
I am scratching my head on how to have our members log in and see the incredible resources to help them.
If you are a member, tell me in the comments below how I can help you maximise your membership.
Innovation – we will launch a new e-news next week called ‘Green N Growing News.’ I realised in my helicopter this week that we have loads of resources available for sale on our website but we are not telling anyone. In business we assume so much – too much – about our customers. I call this screw up by me the “build it and they will come bull shit.”
This means you cannot just have products and not tell your customers. You have to tell your customer you have products and how they can solve your customers challenges, issues or problems. And that is exactly what we are doing with ‘Green N Growing News’. It’s only taken me 18 months to see this!
Oh and if you want a copy of ‘Green N Growing News’ put ‘Green N Growing News’ click here – link to subscription page.
Decision Making – While in the helicopter, I examined our business centres. As much as I love helping fitness businesses there are somethings we can do and some we cannot. Our core business is working with business owners, managers and their teams. We have tried PT business coaching and more recently helping develop GFM’s. We waivered from our core business and it cost the business money.
Learn from my mistakes and focus on your core business.
Now later today, show 67 on the Fitness Business Podcast is live. I listened yesterday and it is awesome! An amazing interview with Andrew Simmons from Vision Personal Training here in Australia. #JustListen.
Next week…
Tomorrow I head to the US for my Anytime Fitness Roundtables and then their International Conference.
I head to Boston first where I am hitting Soul Cycle, BFX and Flywheel Sports.
This means JTInTheRaw Show 11 will be coming live from Lake Placid next Friday or Thursday night!
I’m working on the Active Management Member 14 day quest on improving the financial strength of their business. This will happen at the end of September & is super cool. We hope to make this available to everyone, not just members.
And brainstorming people to interview for The Fitness Business Podcast. If you have any suggestions, pop them in the comments to tell us.
And that’s about it for another show. Thanks for sticking with me today as I shared my screw ups in business.
